The National Honor Society has four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. Students in the National Honor Society must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA, demonstrate positive character traits, participate in service projects and be a leader both in and out of school. Admittance into the NHS is not taken lightly and our members are expected to uphold the pillars by which they were selected.
The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 by a high school principal that wanted to recognize and promote academics, leadership, service and character in his students. The Centreville High School Chapter of the National Honor Society was started in 1966 and has inducted almost 700 members since it's beginning.
