Hall of Fame Bylaws

Hall of Fame Committee Composition

1. The committee shall consist of seven individuals. Hall of Fame committee members for the 2025 will be selected by the Superintendent. It will be the committee's responsibility to nominate, approve, and fill future vacancies in the committee.

2. Current and retired employees of the Centreville Public School District, along with members of the community, shall be eligible to serve on the committee.

3. One member of the Centreville Public Schools Board of Education shall serve as a committee member.

4. The High School Athletic Director, or designee, shall serve as a committee member.

5. The Superintendent serves as the liaison but does not have voting power.

Criteria for Selection to the Hall of Fame

1. A nominee becomes eligible for consideration if: 

   a. An athlete, five years after graduation.

   b. A coach, after completion of primary coaching duties.

   c. A team, after five years of the purpose for nomination. 

   d. A person for their distinguished service who does not meet the above criteria but has contributed to the support of Centreville athletics.

2. Nominees must have made a significant and distinguishing contribution to Centreville athletics in one or more sports. 

3. Nominees must have distinguished themselves with a high degree of character throughout their high school, post-high school, and adult lives.

Nomination and Selection Process

1.  Committee members may nominate any athlete, coach, or support personnel.

2. Nominations from the public shall be solicited each year through notices in the local media and school district publications. Nominations will be accepted by the Centreville Superintendent and / or Athletic Director. Nominations will be accepted at any time, although the Hall of Fame Committee will only review nominations received once per year. 

3. Nominations shall be reviewed by the Hall of Fame Committee every October.

4. The maximum number of inductees will be five per year.

5. Nominations are permanent. Once a nomination is received, they do not have to be resubmitted unless updating the fill with current or new information. Once nominated, if not selected by the committee, the committee will review the nomination again the following October and thereafter.

Formal Induction

1. An appropriate home athletic contest shall be selected to honor each year's inductees during the winter sports season. 

2. Each inductee shall receive an award recognizing their contributions to Centreville athletics. Inductees will be included in the Athletic Hall of Fame monitor.

3. Unless an inductee has passed away or is physically unable to ever attend the ceremony, inductees who are unable to attend the year they are selected will be inducted the following year based on their availability. This change will not impact or change the number of members inducted in either year.
