The annual "Storybook Character Parade" took place on Thursday, October 31st. Students dressed up as their favorite book character and paraded through the elementary halls. Due to rain (a common theme this year), the usual trek to the high school was changed to a walk around the gym to show visiting parents the great costumes. Wonder Woman, a Star Wars paratrooper, and Harry Potter showed up to walk, while Where’s Waldo led the way.

Bulldog Boogie a Big Success
Centreville Elementary recently held their annual Bulldog Boogie to raise money for the Elementary Parent Advisory Council (PAC). The day was rainy and cold, but students persevered through it all and walked outside until the rain forced them indoors. PAC was able to raise $8,900 during this event! Thank you to the following businesses who supported this fundraiser: Gleaton-Swanwick Agency, Hamilton Harley Davidson, Lennard Ag, and Reed Electric. Third grade raised the most money and got to spray Mr. VanderKlok with silly string! Thank you to everyone who came, participated, and donated to our elementary school.

"Pawsitive" Influence at Elementary
In an effort to encourage students to make positive behavior choices, the elementary implemented a “Pawsitive Ticket” system at the beginning of the school year. Students "caught" being respectful, responsible, or safe are given a ticket for their classroom box. Each week, tickets are randomly drawn to recognize students who have shown these traits. Since the beginning of school, staff members have given out over 22,000 tickets, 222 tickets have been drawn and 180 students have been recognized as Student of the Month.
